What can be better than sunset over Mt. St. Helens? We had done a long day of hiking through old growth forests along a beautiful river. Seriously, we found fir and cedar trees 10 feet wide! It was incredible. We came across our first full herd of Elk that evening and were able to sneak up quite close to them. After a day of talking to trees who have been alive for hundreds of years, hiking over moss that our boots sank deeply into, and stroking beautiful tall green ferns with our arms as we moved through the forests, we truly enjoyed this sunset! I felt that I had been transported to a lost land and it didn’t hurt that there were no other humans anywhere that day. The zombie apocalypse could have happened and I would have never known or cared.
